School Administration and Supervision Statement

To Whom It May Concern:

This statement outlines my qualifications and commitment to joining the New York City Public Schools as an assistant principal. As required, I am pleased to provide responses to the two questions. Notably, my interest in the selection process is driven by my desire for a future collaborative relationship to support students and their families. In responding to the questions, I aim to inform and enlighten the reviewers about my decision to embark on this process.

One instructional initiative I undertook to enhance student achievement was focused on special needs, leveraging my knowledge and experience to drive curriculum development and instruction. This involved staff development, sharing school leadership principles, and resource management. For instance, I provided professional development to field personnel on non-public school policies and procedures, enhancing my participation in the impartial hearing process in cooperation with various NYCPS divisions. Consequently, I became more passionate about creating inclusive learning experiences that foster critical thinking and engagement.

My achievements in curriculum development have improved student engagement, driven by my academic background and work experience. To further strengthen my leadership qualities, I consider capitalizing on my initiatives. My role involves participating in the impartial hearing process with various NYCPS divisions. I was responsible for reviewing student progress reports and facilitating transitions from early intervention to preschool, demonstrating significant leadership. This endeavor was part of a birth-to-three program, maintaining close liaison with non-public schools regarding services for NYCPS students with disabilities. Teachers focused on academic readiness skills, highlighting the initiative's purpose and scope in early childhood education. The steps involved a chain of commands from the New York State Department of Health and service providers.

The initiative's results demonstrated a quantitative data analysis, leveraging data to set high learning goals and inform curriculum, instruction, and assessment. In retrospect, I would employ a mixed-methods research approach for future plans and analyzing special education service data. Furthermore, recommendations include supporting families throughout the placement process and fostering teamwork to facilitate responses to inquiries from multiple agencies. This would also enable professional development for field personnel regarding non-public school policies and procedures. I believe this role would provide an opportunity to contribute to a viable learning community and grow professionally.

My inspiration to become an assistant principal stems from my academic experience and career path. With over a decade of experience in special education, I have developed a strong foundation in individualized instruction, behavioral support, and multidisciplinary teams. Ideally, a school community offering professional development and supporting a creative curriculum for diverse learning needs would align with my background.

By using data to set high learning goals, I aim to leverage deep knowledge of curriculum, instruction, and assessment. I am motivated to apply for the assistant principal role within the New York City Public Schools, driven by my passion for creating inclusive learning experiences that foster critical thinking and engagement. With over a decade of experience in school administration, I am confident in my ability to provide instructional leadership, support teacher development, and foster a positive school culture. As an educational manager, I have improved student achievement, empowered teachers, and built strong collegial relationships.

My vision for the position is to create a collaborative environment supporting academic, social, and emotional growth. I am committed to fostering a learning community that promotes academic success and social-emotional growth. My goal is to provide every student with an opportunity for a quality education, aligning with the school's mission and values. I believe my leadership style and experience align with the school's mandates, and I am excited about contributing to the school's success.

Thank you for considering my application; I would be delighted to discuss my qualifications further, focusing on supporting students, teachers, and the school community.

Sincerely,
Lianie Jean
